Long-distance move from Virginia to California

Had to do it myself.

This company was contracted to pick up our belongings on May 16 from Virginia and deliver to California. They never delivered them. After a long and arduous process involving lawyers, police, and even a news agency, I was able to get an address where our items were being held in new jersey. We were then told that our items had to be picked up by the "end of the week" in mid september. I bought 2 last minute tickets to New Jersey and rented a uhaul to drive our property back to california.

When we pick up our items, they looked like they had been dropped, boxes had been opened, items were broken and missing. The warehouse smelled of mold and there looked like there were many other families items in it, with approximately 30 pallets stacked together haphazardly.. and in the back corner we found our 2 pallets and various items strewn around them.

We retrieved 61 of our 66 boxes, and 11 of 12 furniture pieces. our mattress had been folded in half and taped so it fit better on a pallet, and had shoe prints all over it. The coils inside were wrecked. This company held our items for 5 months with little to no communication. We are working with their insurance company to get some restitution right now, as well as seeking other options..

One last thing: the company gave us back one box that is definitely NOT OURS. it has a painting in it by "Munro" of some red and yellow tulips and a framed mirror approximately 2x2 feet. if this rings a bell to anyone please message me and I will ship you the box immediately.. through a more safe and secure means.

Message me privately if you want more details or if your items are still being held by this company.

Long-distance move from Florida to New York

Greatest and Smoothest moving experience EVER!!

I had moved many of times and have always had the company I worked for Pay for moving expenses and was always moved by big company named van lines but since I didn't have to pay, it was never a worry for me. This time around was different, I decided to relocate on my own and had to cover expenses so I was worried not being able to afford it or worried I may have dealt with the wrong company. I shopped around several companies and received quotes with a wide range of prices and was getting more and more confused of the moving process. It wasn't until I received a call from Steve who actually informed me of many things in the whole process and how to protect myself from being scammed. That put me at ease and the fact that he was honest and straight forth with me that once I reserved the moved with him, I felt my things were going to be taken care of and this whole process would be a smooth transition. Steve kept in touch with me throughout the whole process as well. The truck arrived on time with 3 well groomed and uniformed men ready to work, they had a heavy accent but the foreman or driver Pal was excellent, very courteous and really clear on everything that was going to happen with this process. I had some things that I didn't get a chance to pack before they got and Pal told to not worry and it would get taken care of. After everything was loaded I was then notified that my balance would even be slightly less due to the fact that the my move was overestimated which I assumed it was cause Steve wanted to make sure I had no surprises. Pal then proceeded to tell me that the delivery process would take 4-7 days and it ended up being 5, pretty accurate. My things that disassembled were reassembled and place it the corresponding areas as explained by Steve. All in all a great experience and I would definitely recommend there services to anyone trying to have a same move like mine went. Thanks In and Out Movers, you guys are the best!

Long-distance move from Virginia to California

In and Out movers.

I contracted this company months ago to move me out on 24 July to California from Virginia Beach. They sub contracted another moving company which was not very professional to execute the contract. I've called In and Out movers to give me a status of my household goods and they keep telling me to call the sub contractor. I don't believe I should call the sub, since I've contracted In and Out movers. If your reading this take my advice and look at getting owner/operator not a broker. To do your move, and stay away from this company. They will take your money and not get back to you. Additionally, I still don't have my household goods after 2 weeks.

Long-distance move from Indiana to North Carolina

Scam.

This company took my information and promised to come get my things within a time frame. They never called to tell me they would not be able to come during the dates agreed upon. When I called them they told me to find other options if I needed the date agreed upon. I never heard back from them to help me with this move. They took the first deposit and after that were not helpful! Don't trust them!

Local move within California

The worst company EVER! Liars!

PLEASE! PLEASE LISTEN TO MY ADVICE: DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY - Do NOT hire them. Not worth it. I will never hire a moving company again after them. Pay the extra money to get the Uhaul.

In & Out ended up having the cheapest price, which is why I went with them. They made me feel like I was getting a good deal, but in all actuality it is a rip-off and so not worth it.

I had the misfortune of dealing with CHRIS, who is the worst person I have met. What an awful guy. He continually schmoozed me in the beginning, sounding like a super nice person, which is partially why I went with this company. He called me words like "doll" and "hun" which drove me crazy and made me cringe every time I heard it. I quickly realized he was really just being completely condescending. Chris was decent at communicating until the day he got my deposit. After that, I could never reach him. EVER. In over a month now - after many voicemails, emails, etc. Even when there was severe trouble with the move, after he sub-contracted me out (after lying and saying they don't do that) - he never returned my call. I was distressed on my voicemails and still nothing. He has no soul.

So here's what Chris told me. EVERYTHING WAS A LIE: "We are NOT a broker, we do NOT sub-contract out to other companies. WE OWN our trucks. Just OUR truck will be picking your stuff up." He also said there would be only ONE other family on this move, making it cheaper for me. He stated that per DOT regulations, it would only take 4-14 business days for my stuff to arrive, no later. WOW was I fooled.

The movers called me 15 hours prior to picking my stuff up. They were supposed to give at least 24 hours notice. When they arrived, IT WAS NOT IN AND OUT MOVERS. It was a company called KLM Vanlines out of Los Angeles. The man in charge was so rude & high on some kind of drug. His eyes were droopy, bloodshot, & all over the place. I would ask him questions and he would rudely ignore me as he was texting on his phone the entire time, with one headphones in. When I finally got his attention he would c*ck off to me and have a temper. They ended up saying that TWENTY ONE families would be on this move, and it would be taking TWENTY ONE business days! They made me sign a completely new contract. The guy didn't let me count my items for an inventory, or take a picture. He had 5 other guys that didn't speak a word of English. They were speaking Russian & laughing the entire time as they watched my friend & I. They completely freaked my roommate out, & she said she was worried for her safety after they left.

CHRIS said there would be no extra charge for stairs or distance to the van. However, this guy said he would cancel my move altogether if I didn't pay an extra $75 for the staircase and $75 per 50 feet they had to walk. I was stuck. I had to do it - didn't have any option.
When I got to the van, it wasn't even a legit rental van! It as a Budget Enterprise Rental Van.
When I looked up KLM Vanlines later in the day, their website that was listed on their contract DID NOT EXIST. The phone number to the business WAS ANOTHER MOVING COMPANY'S LINE. The number of the head guy in charge WAS TURNED OFF FOR THE NEXT 30 hours. I checked reviews online, and they have 100 AWFUL REVIEWS of people saying they hired lawyers because KLM stole thousands of dollars worth of their stuff with no explanation, would hold stuff hostage until they were paid more (demanding more money upon arrival) & people said all their valuables were broken & their things had been opened and tampered with. Stuff missing. This company has an F on BBB.

I finally got ahold of dispatch at IN and Out, after I thought my stuff would have arrived, & they said my stuff is STILL sitting in the middle of nowhere in Chatsworth - weeks after picking it up - with no security protecting it.
Finally, a guy who hardly spoke English called me the day before the 4th of July. He said he would be at my house on the 4th at 1pm. He said it is not his problem that it is a holiday and there's nothing he could do about it. My entire 4th of July, for my whole family, was ruined.
When the movers arrived, a few things were broken, and I saw on a form that FIVE DIFFERENT PEOPLE had handled my stuff on this move over the past month. It had been moved from truck to truck, and from company to company. It wasn't In and Out Movers OR KLM that even delivered it. It was ANOTHER moving company out of Illinois? How did my stuff get there?

IN AND OUT MOVERS are a complete joke. CHRIS is the worst ever..CROOKS & LIARS.
I NEVER leave negative reviews on Yelp, but I am passionate about this one. I was up every night worrying about my stuff. This has been a nightmare. I've cried over it how many times.

Please, Please. From the bottom of my heart, I am worried about everyone that uses this company. DO NOT DO IT. TRUST YOUR GUT. This company DOES HIRE OUT - THEY DO NOT USE THEIR OWN VAN LINES & HIRE MANY 3RD PARTIES.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Texas

Stuff missing.

I moved my stuff with this company. It's been two weeks and they don't respond to calls and emails now. They took 70% of the deposit and don't know where is the stuff yet. Rangy Gonzalez and Steve seemed so good at the time of booking but now looks like a scam. Please stay away. I have filed a police complaint against them.
